Dr. R. A. Mashelkar
The eminent scientist and the former Director General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) Dr. R. A. Mashelkar will be the Chief Guest and will deliver the Convocation Address in the 6th Annual Convocation of the Institute on 18th September, 2010.

Dr. John van Wyhe
The renowned Historian of Science and the Director of The Complete Work of Charles Darwin Online, of the National University of Singapore and formerly of the University of Cambridge, Dr. John van Wyhe will also address the 6th Convocation as a Guest of Honour.

Inter NIT Cricket 2009 The Inter NIT Cricket Tournament 2009 was held in the Institute during December 16-20, 2009. Eight NITs participated in two clusters (Durgapur and Rourkela). NIT Jaipur emerged as the winner and NIT Raipur was the runners-up in the final played at NIT Durgapur.
	Inter College Football 2009 NIT Durgapur won the Inter Engineering College Football Tournament 2009 organized by Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
